EDMONTON—A man in Edmonton suspected of assaulting a woman over the course of several days is dead after he was shot by city police. Investigators say in a release that officers went to an east-side home Wednesday afternoon after word that a 28-year-old woman had been assaulted in a residence by a 26-year-old man she knows. The man, whose name has not been released, died at the scene but no officers were injured. This is the second fatal shooting involving Edmonton police in a week. On Dec. 26, a 34-year-old man being sought on outstanding warrants died after police stopped a vehicle he was in.
