Donald Trump’s 25% Iran trade tariff to have little impact on India: Exporters’ body

The apex exporters’ body Federation of Indian Export Organisations on Tuesday said US President Donald Trump’s announcement to impose a 25 per cent duty on countries doing business with Iran will almost have no impact on India. "There is, therefore, no basis to anticipate any adverse impact on India," FIEO Director General Ajay Sahai said. And therefore, FIEO is of the view that the impact of additional 25 per cent tariff imposed by US on any country doing business with Iran will almost have no impact on India," FIEO said. Indian exporters are already reeling under the impact of the steep 50 per cent tariffs imposed by the US. Located in the Sistan-Balochistan province on the energy-rich Iran’s southern coast, the port is being developed by India and Iran to boost connectivity and trade ties.
