Firecrews were called to homes on Hill St, Churchill Ave and Queen St on Tuesday morning, after heavy rain flooded sections. A morning downpour sparked emergency calls in Richmond from people worried their homes were about to be flooded. Fire and Emergency New Zealand (FENZ) said it had three calls from people living on Queen St, Hill St and Churchill Ave on Tuesday morning who had water on their sections, after roads outside their houses flooded. Shift manager Lyn Crosson said fire crews attended three properties, after receiving calls between just before 8am and 8.20am. It appeared the incidents were related to a “cloud burst”, with no flood-related calls received since 8.20am, Crosson said.
