KATHMANDU, June 2: A Nepali doctor Soniya Dulal has received the 'Cancer Global Oncology Young Investigator Award (GOYIA) 2023' worth $ 50,000. Dr Dulal received the award for her research titled 'Study of breast cancer genes in women of different ethnic groups of Nepal'. Dr Dulal is also the first Nepali medical oncologist to receive the Conquer Cancer Foundation, American Society of Clinical Oncology Award for best abstract. She is also the first medical oncologist to receive the 2019 Technical Fellowship Award for Lung Cancer Research in Princess Margaret, Canada. She is the first Nepalis Medical Oncologist to receive 2018 ASCO Annual Meeting Conquer Cancer Foundation of ASCO Merit Award as a fellow for an excellent abstract.
