In a new interview with the development team for Dragon Quest XI, they explain that the Switch version will still take some time and what happened to the 3DS iteration of the game. If you remember, back when Dragon Quest XI released in Japan it came in two versions; PlayStation 4 and 3DS. As for the long-awaited Switch version of the game, it is still in development and will take some time. This is because like Kingdom Hearts III, Dragon Quest XI shares the same engine and toolset, that of Unreal Engine 4. So once Kingdom Hearts III is done and released, the development resources assigned to that project will likely be distributed elsewhere.
