Despite not releasing an album of his own this year, Kendrick Lamar leads the pack with eight Grammy nominations for his work on the Black Panther soundtrack. Drake is heavy on his heels with seven nominations of his own, with six for singer Brandi Carlile, and five each for Cardi B, Lady Gaga, Childish Gambino, Maren Morris and Best New Artist nominee H.E.R. Taylor Swift, a perennial Grammy favourite, is only nominated for Best Pop Vocal Album for Reputation, though she’s up against the voices of Kelly Clarkson and Ariana Grande, who only scored two nominations despite having one of the biggest years in music (and one of the best albums, Sweetener).
