Rafiq Uddin, 35, died in the incident which occurred around 3am on Friday in the Upazila's Shastipur area, the police said. Rafiq was a 'marked drug peddler' named in several cases with the police, said Kushtia Model Police OC Nasir Uddin. The OC said that a police team was dispatched to the area on information of a gunfight between two rival gangs of drug traffickers. He was rushed to the Kushtia General Hospital where doctors on duty declared him dead," said OC Nasir. Police recovered a gun, two rounds of bullets, two magazines and 50 bottles of Phensedyl cough syrup from the scene.
