Dublin City Council still in the dark on 2026 tenant-in-situ funding

Dublin City Council (DCC) has still not been told by Government of its 2026 allocation for tenant-in-situ (TIS) home purchases, which are designed to keep tenants who are at risk of eviction in their homes. "We haven’t yet been told what our additional TIS funding will be for 2026,” he told the council chamber, but said existing funding was still being worked through. The tenant then pays rent to either the council or the Housing Agency. Furthermore, a new set of restrictions for accessing TIS funding was introduced by Minister for Housing James Browne in April of last year. At this week’s meeting, Independent councillor Pat Dunne said the TIS scheme was “the one thing that should have been left alone” in our housing policy.
