Dublin city council will vote on a proposal to condemn the Polish and Hungarian governments’ actions against gay and trans rights and declare Dublin a “freedom zone” for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex and queer (LGBTIQ) people. The Labour Party proposal, which will be considered by the council’s protocol committee this week, would also commit the council to flying the rainbow flag on City Hall for a week during “pride month” in June.
