DAVAO CITY –– Renowned photojournalist and presidential photographer Renato “Rene” Lumawag was laid to rest Saturday, July 6, at the Forest Lake Memorial Park-San Pedro here. Lumawag, known as Tatay Rene to colleagues, died on Monday, July 1, due to a lingering illness. ADVERTISEMENTAmong those who joined the interment rites of Tatay Rene was Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte. On Wednesday evening, July 3, President Duterte, Lumawag’s long-time friend, visited his wake. In his more than four decades as a photojournalist, Lumawag has captured historic moments of Davao City and Mindanao.
