EBRD president stresses interest in investment in Egypt


European Bank for Reconstruction and Development - Courtesy of EBRD Facebook pageCAIRO, Jan 25 (MENA) - Sir Suma Chakrabarti, the President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Saturday asserted the bank's concern with investment in development projects in Egypt in the coming period.It will continue to support the Egyptian government's ambitious economic reform program particularly in the the programs of infrastructure, renewable energy, transport and electricity.During a meeting with Minister of International Cooperation Dr Rania el Mashat on the fringe of the Davos Economic Forum, they discussed projects currently being implemented by the bank in Egypt as well as future ones.The bank's investments in Egypt amount to euros 5.3 billion in 99 projects in the fields of transport, electricity, renewable energy, housing and sanitation.The government seeks to promote cooperation and partnership with the bank in various fields and increase funding offered to the private sector to create more development, she added.
