Osama’s award-winning platform is one amongst many impressive initiatives taken by the youth of Bangladesh, oftentimes with the specific aim of improving the lives of their fellow countrymen and women. However, we have disappointed in this regard, with entrepreneurs consistently complaining about the barriers and bottlenecks that the business community continue to face in Bangladesh, detracting them from operating smoothly, an issue which we at the Dhaka Tribune have editorialized on before. Such obstacles are not only discouraging future entrepreneurs from attempting to set up their own businesses, but both in the medium and long runs, its detrimental impacts on the economy will be devastating as faith and trust in our investment climate starts to wane. Instead, what must continue to be prioritized is the cultivation of a favourable business climate which nurtures the spirit of entrepreneurship.
