Eniola Akinkuotu, AbujaThe Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has granted bail to the immediate past Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. Babachir Lawal, Saturday PUNCH has learnt. Our correspondent was informed by senior officials at the EFCC that the former SGF’s passport was confiscated as a condition for his bail. A senior EFCC official said, “Babachir Lawal, was granted bail on Friday night. In 2016, he allegedly awarded a N223m consultancy contract for the removal of invasive plant species in Komadugu, Yobe Water Channels to his firm, Rholavision Engineering Limited. Apart from allegedly awarding a contract to his company, the former SGF also reportedly received kickbacks from the Presidential Initiative on the North East’s contractors, according to a Senate report.
