About 30 jobs may be axed at the Earthquake Commission, which has been consulting staff on a restructure. Deputy chief executive Renee Walker said that, if confirmed, most of the cuts would be at its offices in Wellington and Hamilton. Consultations on the job cuts closed on Thursday and EQC would consider the feedback over the next week before confirming any changes at the end of next week, she said.
