LAHORE: To curb tax evasion and increase government revenue, the Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control (ET&NC) Department Punjab has made no objection certificate (NOC) mandatory for New Year’s Eve celebrations, Pakistan Today learnt on Saturday. The inspectors will inspect events at Mall Road, Davis Road, Egerton and allied areas, including Gulberg Model Town and Ferozepur Road. The second team will inspect parties and events at Faisal Town, Johar Town, Wapda Town, Bahria Town, Raiwind Road, Multan Road, Canal Bank Mall Road to Bahria Town. In many places, due to the connivance of event organizers and excise staff, the department loses a lot of revenue in terms of entertainment tax. Similarly, the department will also collect tax from the organizers of all entertainment events,” he maintained.
