An earthquake of magnitude 6 on the Richter's scale struck 91 km away from Japan's Noda on Wednesday. The US Geological Survey has reported that the earthquake struck at a depth of 19 km at 5:26 pm local time (1426 GMT). Japan, which is prone to frequent earthquakes, was also struck by another quake of magnitude 7.5 earlier this month. This is not the only earthquake reported from across the world at a time when the New Year is being celebrated. A magnitude 5.3 earthquake struck Susanville, California, in the U.S. on Tuesday (local time), Reuters quoted the USGS as saying.
