NAFTA may be the lead trade-treaty target of the protectionist Trump administration. However, many of these same people ardently oppose Mexican immigration to the U.S., which receded as NAFTA's gains were felt in Mexico. On the other hand, maybe NAFTA will endure this new crowd in Washington. I was reminded of a column I wrote in August 1993 for The Wall Street Journal. The column continued, "The unionists have felt this way for years, and for environmentalists in an industrial society, it comes naturally.
