The PSG frontman was looking for a move to Atletico Madrid in January but was unable to force one through with just six months remaining until he becomes a free agent. The Parisians wanted a hefty fee to see the striker leave mid-season which the Spanish side weren't prepared to pay. United and Chelsea have the financial means to not only pay Cavani's transfer fee but also his mammoth wages. Atletico Madrid did not close the agreement. United meanwhile are having to deal without top scorer Marcus Rashford who is set to be injured for several months.
