She added that the best place to cultivate the reading culture is in the home setting. Education experts have asked government to build more libraries to increase members of the public's access to books. Sarah Ruto, country coordinator Uwezo East Africa, says such a move will be the only way to re-cultivate the waning reading culture in Kenya. The educationist urged the public to take up a personal initiative of cultivating a reading culture in themselves for knowledge acquisition and also to fulfill the need to stay up to date on current affairs. "Parents need to inculcate in their children this culture from an early age," Ruto said.
