Following a rise in electricity demand, the government of Egypt is limiting electricity use with daily power outages nationwide. At the beginning of August, the government started implementing timetables for daily power cuts across the country to citizens with advance notice of power outages, according to Ahram Online. According to Human Rights Watch, however, these power cuts put people’s economic and social rights at risk.
