Egypt, Saudi Arabia coordinate on regional crises ahead of first Supreme Council meeting

Egypt and Saudi Arabia on Monday agreed to intensify political consultation and coordination to address escalating regional challenges, affirming a unified stance on resolving conflicts in Gaza, Sudan, Yemen, and Somalia. The agreement followed meetings in Cairo between Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi and Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan al-Saud. The discussions, which also involved Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty, focused on the “deep-rooted strategic ties” between the two nations and preparations for the first meeting of the Egyptian-Saudi Supreme Coordination Council. Sisi commended Saudi Arabia’s efforts to host a conference for southern Yemeni components to discuss the “southern issue” within a framework that preserves Yemen’s unity. The Saudi delegation included Prince Mosaad bin Mohammed al-Farhan, advisor for political affairs, and Saudi Ambassador to Cairo Saleh bin Eid al-Husseini.
