CAIRO – 10 March 2021: The National Authority for Tunnels (NAT) announced Wednesday that it is certain to execute a second phase of Egypt's first ever high-speed electric train to reach Matrouh governorate. The lengths of the first and second phases are 460 kilometers and 200 kilometers, respectively. The second phase will be between Alamin and Marsa Matrouh, capital of Matrouh governorate, for the line to encompass 20 stations. The total length of railroads to be extended within the project is 1,000 kilometers and the total cost is LE360 billion. The train having a speed of 250 kilometer per hour is expected to have two other phases.
