Egypt increasing vehicle conversion from gasoline to natural gas


Egypt’s Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (MSMEDA) has signed contracts worth $6.4 million with two companies to convert thousands of vehicles from gasoline to natural gas. State media reported that the agreements meant the implementation of the ninth phase of an initiative to convert 150,000 vehicles to run on natural gas. The growth in Egyptian gas production in recent years has encouraged the government to pursue fuel conversion. And in February, El-Molla told EU Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson that Egypt plans to expand the exploration and production of natural gas and technical support programmes.
