CAIRO – 29 March 2021: Egypt’s Health Ministry announced Sunday that 686 new coronavirus cases were detected, upping the total number of confirmed cases to 200,050. In a statement, Spokesman for the Health Ministry Khaled Megahed said 37 patients have died from the virus over the past 24 hours, raising the death toll to 11,882. As many as 533 patients were discharged from isolation hospitals after receiving necessary medical care, taking the number of recovered cases to 153,175 so far, the spokesman said. Egypt has so far obtained 650,000 doses of the Chinese Sinopharm vaccine. The country started its vaccination campaign in January, providing vaccine so far to thousands of medical workers, people suffering from chronic diseases and elderly.
