Egypt’s Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Mahmoud Esmat, on Saturday inspected the 500 kV DC Egyptian-Saudi interconnection station in Badr City. Esmat reviewed the current status of the project, including the progress of testing, the timeline, and the commissioning schedule. Bridges of powerThe minister said that these electricity interconnection projects serve as bridges of electrical power, connecting countries, strengthening partnerships and cooperation, and achieving mutual benefit and economic integration. Esmat added that the Egyptian-Saudi electricity interconnection project is part of efforts to establish an integrated electrical grid linking the two countries, resulting in efficient and flexible electricity exchange. Esmat affirmed the continuation of on-site monitoring to finalize the electricity interconnection project with Saudi Arabia and commence operations.
