GEORGE TOWN: Eight men have been detained for allegedly assaulting policemen during an enforcement operation at an apartment near Jalan Sungai here on Wednesday (March 25) night. George Town OCPD Asst Comm Abdul Rozak Muhammad said the suspects, aged between 28 and 38, were arrested following the incident that left three policemen with minor injuries. “In the course of the pursuit, a misunderstanding occurred between the policemen and several members of the public, which escalated into a scuffle,” he said. Three of the four policemen sustained minor injuries during the altercation. “All eight suspects have been remanded for three days from March 26 to March 28 by the George Town Magistrate’s Court to facilitate investigations,” he added.
