England managed an imperious four-try victory over Ireland despite having done very little work on their attack. This was the claim from Eddie Jones, the head coach, after the game. This may seem like encouraging news for England fans, and it is not a brag. It has been Jones’s message ever since he took over three years ago: that the attack would be the last detail being factored into his master plan to win the World Cup in Japan in the autumn. However, four tries against Ireland in Dublin does not exactly register as a bland attacking performance, so Jones had to explain what he meant.
