Eric Carle, the children’s author and illustrator whose classic The Very Hungry Caterpillar and other works gave millions of children some of their earliest literary memories, has died at age 91. Oh man, I love Eric Carle. Love forever, broken through to the other side, Eric Carle. Thanks, Eric Carle, for unforgettable times with my sons when they were very small. This is the gift that Eric Carle gave me on the first day I visited his studio.
