Eric Trump, the son of US President Donald Trump, will fly into Ireland to seek local approval to build a “spectacular” new ballroom at the family’s golf resort in County Clare. Federal procurement records reviewed by The Independent show Eric Trump is slated to visit Doonbeg next week, on Tuesday and Wednesday, and will have a Secret Service team in tow, costing the American taxpayer more than 20,000 dollars to house the agents during the trip. This comes ahead of the resort hosting the 2026 Irish Open later this year. Eric once claimed that the family business let the Secret Service stay at their hotels for free or at cost. The Clare County Council will accept public comments on the Doonbeg ballroom proposal through February 2, with a decision due three weeks after that.
