PETALING JAYA: Fines will not be imposed on Chinese cemetery management but on individuals who violate Covid-19 standard operating procedure during the Qing Ming festival, says the National Unity Ministry. The ministry said it had taken note of the concerns of Chinese cemetery management about potential compounds. It was reported that several cemeteries in Kerian, Perak, have decided not to open for Qing Ming due to concerns about being fined for violating Covid-19 SOP. Prayer times in MCO, conditional MCO and recovery MCO areas should be between 5am and 6pm, and the duration is limited to 60 minutes, with sanitisation work lasting 30 minutes in between. The ministry urged the Chinese cemetery management nationwide to operate in accordance with the established SOP so that the Chinese community would be able perform the Qing Ming ceremony this year.
