Eskinder Nega Refuses to Attend Court HearingsBy Staff ReporterAugust 13, 2020 (Ezega.com) -- Eskinder Nega, president of Balderas for Genuine Democracy Party and two other co-defendants said they will not take part in subsequent court hearings, rebutting the court’s decision to hear the prosecutor’s witnesses behind the curtain. Objecting the way the court’s proceedings on the case, Eskinder Nega, Sintayehu Chekol, and Qeleb Seyoum said they will not attend the next court hearings and terminated their lawyer. Critics say the youth group was rather defending the violent groups also called Qeerrro until police arrested Eskinder Nega and his colleagues. Defendants' Lawyer Henok Aklilu said the court’s decision was made in violation of his clients’ legal rights. The court ordered the police to bring witnesses during the next court proceeding and bring defendants before the court by force.
