Ethiopia and Djibouti have signed a deal to build a gas pipeline that will transport Ethiopian gas to an export terminal in Djibouti. China’s Poly-Gcl petroleum investments signed a memorandum of understanding with Djibouti two years ago to invest $4bn to build a gas pipeline from Ethiopia after signing a production sharing deal with Ethiopia in 2013. Ethiopia had found extensive gas deposits in its eastern Ogaden Basin in the 1970s. Djibouti’s Energy Minister Yonis Ali Guedi told reporters, the signed deal would allow both parties benefit from the project in an equitably.
