JIGJIGA, Ethiopia — Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed welcomed Djibouti’s President Ismail Omar Guelleh and Somalia’s President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud at Jigjiga’s Garaad Wiilwaal Airport, as the two leaders arrived to take part in the inauguration of development projects, officials said. The Djiboutian and Somali presidents were accorded a warm and ceremonial reception, reflecting the close diplomatic relations linking the three neighbouring Horn of Africa nations. Senior Ethiopian officials and high-level delegations accompanied the leaders during the استقبال. The visit comes amid renewed efforts to strengthen regional cooperation between Ethiopia, Djibouti and Somalia, particularly on shared priorities such as peace and security, economic integration and cross-border infrastructure connectivity. Trilateral engagements among the three countries have increased in recent years, with leaders emphasising cooperation as key to fostering stability and sustainable development across the region.
