They are mostly following in the footsteps of famous actresses like Angelina Jolie and Mary-Louise Parker who have previously adopted children from Ethiopia. However, the authorities of the East African nation decided to ban foreign adoption. Despite several successful stories, Ethiopian authorities decided to suspend foreign adoption and later on completely ban it on the basis that some kids have been abused. Ethiopian authorities believe that foreign adoption increased the risk of child trafficking and abuse. This was also the concern of Danish authorities who also chose to ban adoption from Ethiopia stating that adoption agencies in Ethiopia provide “inconsistent information” about children.
