In a statement, Ethiopian foreign Affairs spokesman Dina Mufti has dismissed claims that his government would deal with the region as free state. Mufti said his country is committed to respect Somalia’s sovereignty and it stands for the unity of Somalia. Somaliland which located in northern Somalia had declared secession in 1991 after Somalia’s government was toppled. Despite relative peace in the region, Somaliland failed to secure international recognition with many of Somalia’s partners call on Somalia and Somaliland to resolve the differences through dialogue. ADDIS ABABA (HORN OBSERVER) - Ethiopia will not recognise Somaliland as independent state but a region in northern Somalia, Ethiopian official said.
