In a statement, the East African airline said the new fleet will offer reduced fuel consumption and carbon emissions. “We are pleased to continue setting the trend in African aviation for adopting cutting-edge technologies to enhance our services and customer satisfaction,” said Ethiopian Airlines Group CEO Mesfin Tasew. The order from Ethiopian Airlines also comes as Boeing faces increased scrutiny due to a January 5 incident when a door plug blew off a brand new 737 MAX plane mid-flight.
