Ethiopian Police Seizes 50 Smuggled PistolsBy Staff ReporterSeptember 21, 2018 - 50 pistols were seized as they were smuggled to the capital city Addis Ababa, the federal police commission said on Thursday. Unlike in the past, this time the weapons were captured with out bullets, police said in a statement. It is not know what percentage of the fire arms being smuggled into the country are being captured, as opposed to those making it through. “About 1000 personal and group arms were seized in joint operation by security forces as 234 pistols and 17,000 bullets were also captured in the capital Addis Ababa,”according to Police’s previous statements. 32 kilashinkoves and two machine guns were seized the same month in Gambella regional state, west of the capital Addis Ababa, as 298 pistols were captured in west Armacho, 53 pistols were seized in Sheno of Amhara state.
