European stock markets climbed at the startof trading today following modest gains in Tokyo. London's benchmark FTSE 100 index edged up by 0.1 percent to 6,015.68 points. In the eurozone, Frankfurt's DAX 30 index added 0.5 percent at 12,891.80 points and the Paris CAC 40 was up by 0.4 percent to 4,928.50 points. The benchmark Nikkei 225 index inched p by 0.17 percent, or 39.68 points, at 22,920.30. The broader Topix index was up 0.30 percent, or 4.86 points, at 1,604.06but declined 1.2 percent from a week earlier.
