A battle to take control of Everton is developing as rival bids jockey for position following the collapsed deal with 777 Partners. Different parties and factions are now competing for Moshiri’s attention, with one bid understood to be spearheaded by successful businessmen and Everton supporters George Downing and Andy Bell. It was in the aftermath of those failed talks that 777 Partners signed its doomed deal to take Everton over in September. He has said he received unsolicited approaches throughout his dealings with 777 Partners but remained convinced the group was the best option. In return the company would take a non-controlling equity stake in the club, with Moshiri remaining in charge.
