★★★★☆The stage was crowded at the end of the evening, and for good reason. It’s always cause for celebration when a West End musical notches up 1,000 performances. Sadly, the real-life Jamie was missing — he had been forced to isolate after being pinged by the track-and-trace service. His mother, Margaret, and grandmother, May, both emerged from the wings, though, as did the writers, Dan Gillespie Sells and Tom MacRae. An exuberant, glitter-filled end to a spirited evening, in short.
