Former Nyeri town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu has appeared to be warming up to President William Ruto and the Kenya Kwanza government. With Wambugu were East Africa Legislative Assembly (EALA) MP Kanini Kega and a host of Jubilee leaders. On May 10, 2023, Wambugu asked retired President Uhuru Kenyatta to take a back seat on matters involving the Jubilee Party leadership. He is just scared that the next leadership might go and work with Kenya Kwanza and that is a personal problem,” he stated. Ngunjiri added that Jubilee needs to be steered by a leader who is currently active in politics.
