IPOH: A former civil servant has claimed trial at a Sessions Court here for soliciting and receiving a bribe amounting to RM1,500. Selamat Mulyono Juni, 37, a former administration officer at the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) in Penang, pleaded not guilty to the charges before judge S. Indra Nehru. He allegedly committed the offence in his capacity as an MPOB officer at about 6pm on Oct 14, last year. For the second charge, Selamat had allegedly accepted a bribe of RM1,500 from the same person for the same purpose at a restaurant in Parit Buntar at about 6.35pm on Oct 20. For the first charge, he was charged under Section 16(a)(b) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act, and charged for the second offence under Section 17(a) of the same Act.
