Depending on local circumstances, it stated that the quarantine period can be shortened as an “acceptable alternative”. It said that shortening the quarantine period would reduce the burden on the public and may increase community compliance. “It may be possible to shorten the quarantine period from 14 days to 12, or even 10 days. Last Friday, a reader wrote to The Star, calling for shorter quarantine periods, especially for returnees abroad.
