As part of Kenya's tradition, several members of the public receive various presidential awards in recognition of their excellent service to the nation during National Holidays. The awards are only conferred by a sitting President and government. The National Honours and awards committee advises the President on who is to be awarded. Kenya has awarded such awards to all its presidents, Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni and Former Liberian President Ellen Johnson despite them not being Kenyans. During Jamhuri celebrations on Monday, President William Ruto awarded His Holiness Syedna Mufaddal Chief of the Order of the Golden Heart (CGH).
