Jo Cox Preference images Sent by Fiona Hamilton Not knownThomas Mair, a far-right extremist, was found guilty today of the murder of the Labour MP Jo Cox as she arrived for a constituency surgery at a library in Birstall, West Yorkshire. He was given a whole life sentence, reserved for offenders judged to be the most dangerous to society. A jury at the Old Bailey took less than two hours to convict Mair, who had not offered any evidence in his defence. Mrs Cox’s parents, Gordon and Jean Leadbetter, and their daughter, Kim, attended throughout the trial. Mrs Cox’s husband, Brendan, gave a moving speech in tribute to his wife from the witness box after the conviction.
