Health News of Thursday, 26 February 2026Source: www.ghanaweb.comThe Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has ordered the immediate withdrawal of alcoholic beverages blended with stimulants from the Ghanaian market, setting a compliance deadline of March 31, 2026. According to the Authority, the action follows a post-registration safety review conducted under Sections 81 and 82(a) of the Public Health Act, 2012 (Act 851). The FDA noted that several countries have already restricted or banned alcoholic energy drinks due to growing public health concerns. Manufacturers have been instructed to reformulate affected products in line with approved standards, ensuring that alcoholic beverages and energy drinks are marketed as distinct product categories. Reiterating its mandate to protect public health, the FDA called on the public to remain alert and report any non-compliant products for swift action.
