Finally, the fate of abandoned, unclaimed corpses that littered the mortuary of the Federal Medical Centre, Owerri, Imo State, has been decided three months after PUNCH Investigations special report. The statement read, “This is to inform the general public that the Federal Medical Centre, Owerri, intends to conduct mass burial of abandoned corpses in its mortuary. She, however, wondered why so much attention was being paid to this year’s mass burial announcement, adding, “Since this particular notice, I have been receiving several calls, meanwhile, mass burial was done last year, two and three years ago and it didn’t raise talk. “When we say mass burial, it is not a new thing in government hospitals. The soldiers, PUNCH Investigations reliably gathered, were deployed to the area from the 34 Artillery Brigade in Obinze.
