A man experiencing a mental health crisis has barricaded himself in his home with two of his children, according to Fairfax County Police. Officers attempted to take the man into custody for emergency psychiatric services, but the man refused to go with police and barricaded himself in the home, Wright said. It is unclear whether the man had a weapon, but negotiators have spoken on the phone with the man periodically since Sunday night, Wright said. With children involved, “it elevates the concern for us and causes us to approach things more delicately,” Wright said. Wright would not disclose the ages of the children inside.
