Foyzur Rahman Faizul alias Shafiqur has reportedly confessed in court to launching a knife attack on Prof Mohammed Zafar Iqbal to kill the noted author and academician on March 3. Shafiqul, also investigation officer of the case filed over the attempt to murder Zafar Iqbal, brought Faizul to court after his 10-day remand ended. Amulya said: “Faizul in his statement admitted to planning the attempt to murder. He has also mentioned that he was inspired to attack Zafar Iqbal after watching many extremist videos on YouTube.”He said Faizul thought Zafar Iqbal was anti-Islam after reading his book “Vooter Bachcha Soleman” and he should die because of that. He said the court sent Faizul to jail after recording his statement.
