Arsenal and Manchester United supportersâ groups have accused their own clubs of being involved in a âblatant power grabâ over plans to reform the Champions League. The clubs are represented on the European Club Association (ECA) board, which meets on Friday to see if it can sign off on UEFAâs plans to increase the number of Champions League matches from 125 to 225 in 2024. đŁ âWe demand that you drop your reckless plans.â âď¸ Fansâ groups from clubs on the @ECAEurope Board have written an open letter to chairman Andrea Agnelli opposing #UCL reforms. However, it is understood some ECA members are still pushing for greater commercial control of the new competition before granting approval to UEFAâs plans. The fansâ letter, signed by the Arsenal Supportersâ Trust, the Arsenal Independent Supportersâ Association and the Manchester United Supportersâ Trust, warned that clubs were not listening to what fans truly wanted.
